Diablo 4 Infernal Butcher Survival Tips from U4GM

In Diablo 4, the safest way to handle an Infernal Butcher is to run a Torment tier your build can clear without repeated deaths and treat every Greed Shrine as a possible dangerous encounter. Extra Treasure Goblins can provide gold during Meat or Treat, while D4 Gold is a separate option from earning it through event runs.

Prepare for the Infernal Butcher

Greed Shrines are reported to be the most reliable way to draw an Infernal Butcher during the event. Before activating one, make sure your character is ready for a difficult fight rather than assuming the shrine will provide an easy reward.

Choose a difficulty where ordinary dungeon enemies do not routinely force repairs or slow your progress. If the Butcher repeatedly kills your character, lower the Torment tier or move on to another activity; repair costs and lost time can erase the value of extra goblin encounters.

Butcher kills are reported to drop Legendary and Unique items from the normal loot pool, not a guaranteed event-specific prize. Keep useful upgrades, salvage gear when materials are the priority, and sell spare Legendaries when the immediate goal is gold.

Build a safer goblin route

Nightmare Dungeons with several shrines give you multiple event checks in a short run. A Channeling Shrine may glow red and spawn goblins when activated; Artillery Shrines have also been reported as event shrines.

Pick a shrine-heavy Nightmare Dungeon at a comfortable Torment tier.
Follow the route and activate each shrine, keeping the possibility of a Butcher encounter in mind.
Focus on any Treasure Goblin that appears before it escapes through a portal.
Return to the event board in western Kyovashad, next to the Waypoint, to hand in gifts and check progress.
Repeat only while the run remains profitable after repairs and travel time.

Do not chase every possible reward at the cost of repeated deaths. A slower, reliable clear can leave you with more gold than a higher-tier run interrupted by repairs.

Infernal Hordes offers a change of pace, with a chance for Goblin Chaos Waves during a compass run. Some players have reported a 10-wave compass showing only six waves, so check the displayed counter before committing a valuable compass.

Check rewards before the event ends

The March of the Goblins board in western Kyovashad is the place to check event progress. Treasure bags improve at ranks 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10; after rank 10, the board becomes a repeatable chest.

Event gifts, including Fedric's Gift, can contain a Resplendent Spark and runes. If goblin kills appear to stop counting, relog and check the board before spending another full dungeon run on progress that may not register.

The listed event end is November 4 at 7:00 PM CET, or 10:00 AM PST. Hand in remaining gifts and open the repeatable chest before the deadline, then compare its payout with a normal Helltide or Pit session.

Gold held by a Seasonal character transfers with that character to Eternal when the season ends; it does not become starting gold for a new Seasonal character. Before your next run, check the Kyovashad board, sell any spare gear, and compare your needs with the option to buy Diablo IV Items rather than spending gold on an upgrade you do not need.

Treasure Goblins can give your Diablo IV gold stash a welcome boost during Meat or Treat, but upgrades can empty it fast.
